When you practice yoga, every day can be a day of celebration, a day of inner insight, a day of self-care, a spa day….

Mother’s Day can be a hard day for some, for many reasons. I used to hate Father’s Day in Brazil. Hate is a light word compared to how I felt. How DARE them? Don’t they know my father died when I was 2 1/2, leaving my mom pregnant of my sister and alone? Celebrate WHAT really??? Okay, I must admit, I was probably a teen or younger…. I can see that for some there’s no reason to celebrate. You lost your mom too soon, she’s far away, you aren’t a mom yourself, maybe it’s a day you don’t really even like…. The point of my blog here is that EVERY time I show up on my mat is a celebration. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Maybe no bells or whistles blow, it’s not a holiday. There are no cute handwritten cards, or chocolate bought by the kids (which in fact, I allow myself to have daily…. a little one of my favorite kind). If you don’t feel this towards yoga, maybe hiking is your jam. Laying by the pool can feel like a holiday. Taking a long steamy bath or shower. Having a self-facial or skin care of your choice. FIND what feels good to you. No special day necessary. To me, pampering can be an infinite road.

Some of you know me, some of you are getting to know me. I am Brazilian, and most of the Brazilian women love pampering themselves. Weekly. Beauty routines, hair, nails, you name it, we do it. I love to think that unrolling my mat is a bit of pampering for my soul and heart, along of course with other things. I would love to know what you are interested on the conversation going next. Journaling? Breathing? maybe different yoga formats? I hope to find some sort of consistency in this blog, so forgive me for the rough start. I wish you a beautiful May. May you always find time for YOU.
